Education, Life Skills & Job Training

Enables families to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those who need it most. A skilled and educated workforce is increasingly essential to East Toledo’s economic vitality. There are numerous ways in which we will exercise leadership to support youth education beginning with pre-school, expand tutoring and other support for students who struggle in traditional educational settings, increase high school graduation rates, and promote college access and completion. Educational focus:

•     Afterschool enrichment

•    Neighborhood school Adoption

•    Reading  k-4th to increase the number of students learning at grade level

•    Youth Group 

The second aspect of the education, life skills initiative is providing wraparound supports for transitional families with children.  LIFE Skills provides the missing support families need (“wraparound” services) – which can seem small, but add up to become significant hurdles in their lives. Some of these services include communication and interpersonal skills, decision making and problem, creative thinking and critical thinking, employability skills, parenting skills, leadership skills, budgeting, financial education then open a bank account, assisting them to further their education or other training.

Housing Assistance

Working with families to obtain and maintain their own stable housing

  • Independent living classes, helping provide needed skills for life on their own. These groups cover all of our LIFE Skills Domains, such as Housing and Financial Literacy.

Mental Health Wraparound Supports 

 Provide mental health wraparound services for Independent Living

  • Celebrate Recovery 12 step recovery program
  • Support groups for men
